Welcome to Kachina's Havanese.
The Havanese are an enchanting and affectionate toy breed dog, devoted to their family. They generally are wherever you are. Cousins to the Bichon family, they share history with the dog of Tenerife, common ancestor to all the Bichons. Like their cousins, they are non-shedding, and hypo-allergenic, making them ideal pets for families with allergies.
Though newly recognized in the Toy Class by the American Kennel Club in 1996, the Havanese History has is a long and facinating one. The Havanese is the National dog of Cuba, and its only native breed. Ships logs of the early sixteenth century reveal that dogs were brought along on these early voyages and found their way into homes of the Cuban aristocracy. At the time of the Cuban revolution, a number of these families escaped to the United States with their pets. All the Havanese in the world today, except those still in Cuba, and those from behind the iron curtain countries descended from those 11 Havanese immigrants!
